COHEN & COMPANY SECURITIES FURTHER EXPANDS INSTITUTIONAL SALES FORCE WITH HIRES IN SAN FRANCISCO, NEW YORK, AND BOSTON.

Philadelphia, PA and New York, NY - May 4, 2009 - Cohen & Company Securities, LLC, Cohen & Company's registered broker-dealer, has further expanded its west coast institutional fixed income distribution network with the hiring of Joe Celentano and Darrel Varrelmann.  Joe and Darrel come to Cohen & Company Securities after more than 17 years with Bear Stearns and JP Morgan selling various fixed income products to a largely west coast account base.  Darrel and Joe join as Managing Directors and will assume senior leadership roles in Cohen & Company Securities’ San Francisco office.

Cohen & Company Securities also announces the hiring of David Simek as Managing Director of Mortgage Sales in New York.  David brings more than 20 years of institutional sales experience to Cohen & Company Securities.  Prior to joining Cohen & Company Securities, David sold mortgage-related securities to institutional investors for Nomura Securities, UBS and Merrill Lynch.

Cohen & Company Securities announces the opening of their Boston office with the hiring of Managing Director Larry Pike.  Larry joins Cohen & Company Securities after more than 15 years selling mortgage-related fixed income securities for Deutsche Bank and Nomura Securities.
